The Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) offers a range of online and face-to-face masters and undergraduate programmes in humanitarianism and conflict response, disaster management, peace and conflict studies, and global health.

The vision for the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) at The University of Manchester has been inspired by the need to conduct rigorous, in-depth research and analysis on the impact and outcomes of contemporary and historical crises.

We’re looking for a talented Communications Assistant, with excellent writing skills, to support the delivery of our student recruitment, marketing and communication activities for both the Institute and our portfolio of educational and research programmes.

You will be responsible for newsletter production, creation of promotional material and outreach and engagement activities on behalf of the Institute. The role will involve liaison with staff both inside and outside the Institute, including NGOs such as: International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Médecins San Frontières, and Save the Children UK; You will also work with relevant university departments such as the Teaching and Learning Support Office, Communications and Marketing, International Office and Alumni Relations.

The HCRI Communications Assistant will often be the first point of contact for external partners and internal University staff and it is crucial that the applicant has excellent customer service skills and can demonstrate these both verbally and in writing, as well as in face-to-face interactions with colleagues.
