Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Environmental Health Team to deliver a new service to the residents of North East Derbyshire. As a response to the cost of living crisis, these new posts will provide advice and support to residents who are struggling or need support in managing their personal circumstances.
The service will work closely with housing colleagues and support is available from colleagues undertaking the same role within the Bolsover District. The aim is to:
Provide support and assistance to vulnerable residents, or those simply needing support, using a whole person approach.
Assist residents with access to information, advice and local services
Focus on financial hardship, food and fuel poverty and health and wellbeing.
The outreach approach means the role will involve visiting people in their own homes and providing detailed one to one support in assisting them with form filling, benefit checks and budgeting for instance. Building relationships with other organisations is key to maximising our reach to those in need.
About you
Experience of dealing with vulnerable customers directly, will be essential. Ideally you will be an excellent communicator and proficient at organising your own work.
The role will be based between home working and at North East Derbyshire District Council offices with a need to travel throughout the district visiting customers on a regular basis.
