Job Summary
Our Chemistry Department in Tranent (Edinburgh area) uses advanced hyphenated chromatography-mass spectrometry techniques within a world class facility to support the analysis of drug and agrochemical compounds (and their metabolites) under development. An opportunity exists for an Industrial Placement candidate to develop their laboratory skills whilst contributing to delivery of regulatory studies. This is a one year fixed term contract.
What your placement will include:
- Supporting the Responsible Scientist in the execution of Biotransformation studies within a Good Laboratory Practice regulated laboratory.
- Processing of biological samples arising from pre-clinical and clinical studies.
- Set up and operation of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometer instrumentation.
- Application of software to assist with quantitation and elucidation of chemical structures.
Interested students should have:
- At least 3 years academic learning working towards an Honours or Masters degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
- A desire to pursue a career in Analytical Chemistry.
- Strong communication skills, proactive attitude and a drive to succeed.
The salary for this role is £20,466.11 per annum (one year fixed term contract).
