Overview
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) is committed to creating opportunities for our staff, patients and the public to participate in high quality research. We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Research Support Officer to join the Research & Development team to take an active role in undertaking research capacity and capability assessments, help co-ordinate the set-up and support the delivery of research and service evaluation projects at the Trust in line with relevant policies and procedures.
The post holder will help develop, implement and maintain systems to monitor research throughout the study lifecycle to ensure that the standards set out in the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research are upheld. You will be responsible for providing research governance advice and guidance to internal and external investigators and coordinating the timely review, registration and monitoring of research and service evaluation projects hosted by the organisation. You will also provide administrative support to the Research & Development team.
You will need to be able to demonstrate previous experience of working in a research support or facilitation role and have knowledge of research governance, legal and ethical frameworks. The post holder will have the ability to interpret complex information, such as research protocols, and provide recommendations for action in a clear and constructive manner.
You will need to be able to work autonomously, managing and prioritising your own workload, as well as working as part of the team and with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic and dynamic team and a unique chance to work in a region-wide ambulance service.
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Please ensure that you have fully read the job description and person specification before applying for this role.
